Jamshedpur logs 191 fresh Covid-19 cases, highest single-day spike this year | Jamshedpur News
Jamshedpur, April 6: As many as 191 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in Jamshedpur, as per the latest figures released by the health department of East Singhbhum on Tuesday. This was the highest single-day spike of coronavirus infections in the Steel City this year.
Total samples tested were 3413 in the last 24 hours. There are 815 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur. The infection tally in the Steel City has gone up to 19555 and a total of 379 fatalities due to the disease have been recorded so far. As many 18361 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far with 46 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours. Over 3000 COVID-19 tests, including around 1904 RT-PCR, were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.
The hotspot areas of the Steel City Mango, Kadma, Sonari and Sakchi continue to witness a virulent spread of COVID.
Of the 3413 samples tested in Jamshedpur on Tuesday 191 positives were reported.
The district administration said it would go for aggressive containment and stricter enforcement of health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.
The surge has led to an increase in hospitalisation.
Of the 191 new cases, 184 are from Jamshedpur urban area and seven from Ghastila.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 238139 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur has dropped down to 94.82% while the mortality rate is 1.94 %.
So far in Jamshedpur 650812 samples have been collected out of which 633925 have been tested and 614370 have turned out to be negative.
