KUALA LUMPUR: P.I.E Industrial Bhd (PIB) has temporarily closed the production facilities of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Pan-International Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (PIE) from March 23 to April 2.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, PIB said it had commenced its planned precautionary Covid-19 testing of all foreign and local employees of PIE.

The screening test was conducted on March 23 at PIE’s factories and some of the employees of PIE in two facilities have been tested positive for Covid-19 during the planned screening test.

“As an immediate response to protect the health and safety of the workforce and the community at large, PIE has temporarily closed the factories from March 23 until April 2.

“The management of PIE is undertaking thorough disinfection and sanitisation procedures on the affected production factories as per the guidelines provided by KKM. In addition, the company has notified all employees as well as PIE’s suppliers and customers about the confirmed cases of Covid-19,” it said.

PIB is confident that any backlogs due to the shutdown will be resolved promptly upon resuming operations.

“The temporary closure of the factories will not have any material impact on the group’s revenue and earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2021,” it said.
